Far North Dallas Democrats and Richardson Democrats Announce Merger
(Dallas) – Far North Dallas Democrats (“FNDD”) and Richardson Democrats are pleased to announce the merging of their two clubs. Drawing from North Dallas, Richardson, and Collin County, the expanded area of the new organization provides a greater opportunity to inform voters about important issues and to support Democratic candidates and activists. “We know from our activism that there are many people in our area who value the Democratic values of fairness and charity”, said Frank Cooney, President of the Richardson Democrats. James White, President of the Far North Dallas Democrats, believes that “By merging our two clubs, our outreach will be even more effective.”
The Richardson Democratic Club, first known as the Richardson and North Dallas Democratic Club, formed more than twenty years ago, growing from meeting in individual precinct chair homes to larger venues, eventually becoming a successful activist club.
FNDD, originally named North Dallas Democrats-HD102, was started in 2004 by a group of activists and precinct chairs to support Harriet Miller in her race for Texas State House in HD 102. In 2008, the club recruited and supported Carol Kent in her successful campaign to win the seat. And in 2012, the club recruited Rich Hancock to run in the newly drawn HD102, which now contains a large part of Richardson, creating a natural synergy between the two clubs. The newly merged club will ask its membership to add two board member positions, expanding the board to seven, and creating greater leadership representation within the merged club. In addition, new auxiliary groups will be focus on political organizing (led by Anthony Pace and David Reazin) and community charity (lead by Rebecca Arredondo).
The Far North Dallas Democrats-Richardson Democrats meets at Kasra Restaurant (525 West Arapaho #21 Richardson Texas 75080) at 7PM on the third Thursday of each month.
