Thursday, July 20, 2017: Kimberly Olson

6:30 p.m. at Sonny Bryan’s

UPDATE 7/20/2017:

Due to a mix-up in her schedule, Commissioner Theresa Daniel is unable to speak at tonight’s meeting. However, we have been able to move our speaker originally scheduled for next month to tonight.

Kimberly Olson, Democratic candidate for Texas Agriculture Commissioner, is an extraordinary candidate and you don’t want to miss this meeting.

Olson, a retired United States Air Force colonel, spent 25 years in the military. “I was in the first generation of female pilots and rose to the rank of colonel,” Olson said. She served in the Pentagon on the Joint Staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the Air Staff and deployed to combat zones, including Iraq. After her military retirement in 2005, she also worked in public eduction, including working as the director of human resources as Dallas ISD, volunteered with the Texas State Guard, and leading Grace After Fire, a nonprofit helping returning female Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. Olson’s public service in Weatherford includes time on the Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees from 2007 – 2011, as well as on the Weatherford Planning and Zoning Commission and with the former Crossroads teen outreach program in Weatherford. Olson now lives in Palo Pinto County outside Mineral Wells with her husband and runs a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), embracing a self-sustaining philosophy.
